The weight of a headlight is very important since your head and nose bear the weight of the light all the time up to several hours in a procedure.

However, it does not mean that the smaller the better since without sufficient optical illumnation you will not have the detail and clarity in doing your job. Beam spread is also an important parameter to minimize glare to patient eyes. Therefore, the ideal combination of weight and power is the target of an optimum light - Nano.

Composite filter helps normal restorative procedures in preventing composite cures during prep and filling before final cures.

The filter first needs to have sufficient isolation of blue wavelength light to prevent composite cured while applying the adhesive or packing the box.

Second is convenience of use in that it is easy to move in and out of filtering position for normal and composite procedures without fighting with loupes lenses (e.g. rotating filter).

Third is contamination when the gloves do not contaminate the loupe and light.

• Snap-on clip to headlight so that the filter can be taken in or out of the light in a snap
• Orange filter to block blue light

Fiber optic headlight uses Xenon or Halogen lamp with lifetimes in the range of 500-1000 hours. LED headlights generate light through electrical current. The conversion from electrical power to optical power is close to quantum limit meaning that it is much more efficient than normal light bulb (about 80% energy saving). The part of electricity that did not convert to light dumps into heat sink of the headlight and increases temperatures.

Every high power headlight will generate heat and become hot over time. The higher the power, the more heat. Depending on the size of the light, the heat will transfer into local temperatures or hot tempratures. The smaller the light, the hotter it gets with the same amount of electrical driving current and same surface areas.

DentLight's headlights are designed to optimize the heat at their individual design size and engineering target. There is one main difference between our lights and other competitors lights in that we isolate front end (lens housing assembly) and back end (articulating arms and loupe adapters) of the light with heat insulation materials that will never get hot for safety operations.

In the low digital power setting, the lights will never get hot. In the highest digital power setting, the heat sink will get hot but other areas with easy access to finger, nose and forehead will never get hot. So use the light according to our instruction, it is safe to operate all the times.

Yes. Dentlight's battery pack integrates smart charging electronics that automatically shuts down the current upon full charge and safely charges the battery at low battery voltage. Our battery pack represents the most advanced Li battery technology (represented by iPhone & iPad of today's world) and the most advanced integrated recharging circuits.

Battery run time is tied to the brightness of the headlight. Lower output optical power translates to longer battery run time.

Nano light comes standard with two battery packs with starting run time of 6 hours per battery at 16,000 to 20,000 lux output, similar to typical overhead light power at normal working distance.

This output is similar to most of the small headlight on the market (even though our competitors over claim power that are not validated by independent studies). It is sufficient to run most dental procedures for a whole day.

At the end of the battery run time, an audible alarm will beep and LED indicator on the battery pack will flash red to indicate either to change battery or plug in charging cord to run nonstop.

Nano has two additional digital power settings of 31,000 lux and >45,000 lux running continuously for 3.5 and 2.5 hours respectively per battery, which are only necessary for magnification loupes of 2.5 - 4 X. Yes. Nano comes in with two special features that enable handsfree operation:

1. Batery pack fully enclosed in battery pouch with Raised ON/OFF key that only requires a simple knock from the elbow to turn on and off the light. This feature avoids contamination on the battery.

2. Composite filter flip-up paddle that avoids contamination of filter/light.

Headlamp itself consists of LED on its mounting base and optical assembly. Nano headlamp is shock proof as is the case of most other small headlights.
